Important Feedback from our 630 and 703 Crews:
Carry-on Bags
Zippers
–
“exploding” zippers have been reported. Follow the packing instructions
from the June Briefing and subsequent e-mails, including:
-
Place heavy sweaters or jackets outside the bag under the
Velcro straps
-
Hook empty water bottles to the outside of the bag – do not put them
in the bag
-
Compress all Zip Lock bags and leave a few inches of the corners of
the Zip Lock unzipped
Triangular
metal rings
– problems with the nylon loop on the shoulder strap slipping through
the gap between the ends of the metal ring on the bag have been
reported, as has a solution of placing a small piece of duct tape over
that opening. Chief Watchu also advises bringing a small supply of
plastic cable ties.
Foot cuts and abrasions at the University of Colorado
A large number of foot cuts and abrasions
have been experienced; many a result of walking to the Recreation Center
in bare feet over rocky trails and rough sidewalks as well as from the
rough surface of the pool bottom. Some have simply taken to leaving
their shoes behind as soon as they get to their dorm room. Except while
at the pool, footwear is required at all times, and at the pool pay
attention to your feet. |

Welcome to Patriots' Path Council's Watchu Experience! The Watchu Experience
is the name we have given our nine-month-long
program to prepare crews for a Philmont or Double H trek in New
Mexico.
Patriots’ Path Council of northern New Jersey makes it easier than
ever to be a part of these unique and exciting experiences provided
by the National Boy Scouts of America.
Every summer we send at
least sixteen crews of twelve persons each to Philmont Scout Ranch
near Cimarron as well as crews to the Double H High Adventure Base
administered by Philmont, located southwest of Albuquerque. These
Web pages were
developed by the Patriots' Path High Adventure Committee to support
our contingent participants and crews. We
are dedicated to improving Patriots' Path recruiting, retention and
advancement of our older youth.
Take a look around. A
good place to begin is
our Quick Start
page. It contains general information about the Watchu Experience,
Philmont and the Double H, including applications and the information necessary to sign up
for either adventure. If you are already a member of
one of the contingents,
you will want to use this site as an important reference
throughout your Watchu experience.
For
easy access, please add it to your Favorites.
We are
confident it will help you as you work to prepare
yourself and your crew for a great summer adventure at
Philmont or the Double H.
We encourage you to
visit often. Start by choosing a category on the side
bar at the left. Have fun as you travel down the
exciting trails opened by these links. |
